Blood Red Gunther Barbed Point SOLD

This pretty Gunther Barbed arowhead is made of heat treated red Mook jasper.  It has very small, fine serrations that are so sharp they feel sticky when your finger is drawn across them.  These points were used in prehistory around the Oregon/California border by native tribes living in that region.  They're often mistakenly believed to be fishing ponts due to their exaggerated, backwards pointing barbs.  But blood protein analysis on several original points tested positive for deer and bighorn sheep blood, indicating they were used for hunting big game.    

Arrowhead is 1 1/4" long x 7/8" wide.
