This arrow is a spot-on copy of a set of original Apache arrows in the Smithsonian's collection that were acquired in the 1870's and I had the privilege to examine in 2014.  This arrow matches those in every aspect and could easily be mistaken for an original if it wasn't so shiny and new.

The main shaft is reed with a hardwood foreshaft of dogwood.  The feathers are a mix of turkey wing and tail feathers, just like the original arrows.  The fletch is wrapped on either end with sinew, but the feathers aren't glued to the shaft, which is exactly how the original arrows were done.  The stone point is heat treated brown flint that matches the design of points that were on several of the arrows with the additional set of notches halfway up the blade.  The point is secured with pine sap glue and then a wrapping of real deer sinew.  The paint design copies the originals exactly.  This is a gorgeous copy of the original arrows and would make a great gift for anyone interested in history, Native Americans, or hunting.

Arrow Specs:  Reed with hardwood foreshaft.  37 3/4 inches long.
