SOLD  This beautiful arrow is a copy of an original Northern California Shasta/Wintu arrow held in a private collection and is illustrated in the Traditional Bowyer's Bible, Vol. 1.  The main shaft is syringa with a foreshaft of serviceberry.  It's tipped with a small obsidian side notched point that's been secured with pine sap glue and sinew, just like the original.  The fletching is peacock wing feathers secured with sinew and glued with hide glue, and the paint design matches the original arrow.  I used peacock feathers because they look identical to the rusty red tail feathers of the red-tailed hawk, and hawk feathers were an overwhelming favorite of many Native Americans for fletching their arrows.  They believed the predatory powers of the hawk's feathers would be transferred to the arrow, helping it better seek out its prey.  Unfortunately current federal law makes it illegal to possess the feathers of raptors like hawk, eagle and vulture, so I had to use a legal look-alike. But I'm really pleased with the final result.

Arrow length- 32 1/2 inches
