Tiger-Striped Obsidian Spearpoint SOLD

A gorgeous piece of red and black Oregon obsidian was carefully chipped into the spearpoint you see here. It's quite thin, with perfect upturned notches and very sharp edges.  This type of obsidian (often called mahogany obsidian due to its resemblence to the wood) is highly sought after by modern flintknappers due to its unique beauty.  I've seen a few authentic examples of multi-colored obsidian artifacts, but they tend to be quite rare.  For some reason it wasn't used that much in prehistoric times....the ancient hunters mainly used black obsidian.
