Yew Kid's Bow and 3 Arrows SOLD

This high performance little primitive kids bow and 3 arrows is just what you need to get the quarantined kids out of your hair and into the woods for some adventure.

The bow is made of pacific yew and pulls 25 lbs at its maximum of 19 inches of draw. It has a leather wrapped grip and a blue and yellow string of Dacron B-50 (just like full-sized modern longbows have). The bow is made from a small diameter sapling that was split in half and carefully tillered so it has a nice even arc and distributes all the tension across the entire length of the bow. The outside (back) of the bow is the wood that was just under the bark and it's the creamy white sapwood. This sapwood is a bit softer and more elastic than the darker heartwood, which acts as a natural reinforcing for the bow. The belly of the bow is heartwood, which is harder and resists compression, making for a perfect combination. Ancient longbows were constructed the same way. This is exactly how the English Longbow was engineered, and its effectiveness in war made it a weapon to be feared in the Middle Ages.

The arrows are made of pine dowels that were carefully selected for straight grain. They're fletched with real turkey feathers that have been wrapped front and back and were applied with a twist to make the arrow spin in flight for better stability and accuracy. The feathers are also glued to the shaft so they have maximum "grab" to the air, increasing their stabilizing qualities. Two of the arrows are blunt for practice. The front of the shafts have been tightly wrapped to prevent splitting if the arrow misses the target and hits a tree or rock. The third arrow is tipped with a sharp, serrated obsidian arrowhead. This arrowhead is designed for hunting and should NOT be shot into targets otherwise the arrowhead can be damaged or broken.

Because this bow is made of wood, it can only be bent so far. The red lines on the arrows are visual draw point markers and the arrows should only be drawn to that line. If drawn beyond that, the bow can be damaged or broken. But if properly cared for this bow will last longer than you will and will shoot with equal performance to the speed it shot when you first received it.

Despite being a "kid's bow", this bow and arrow set is NOT A TOY. It's considered a weapon and should be treated as such. The arrows leave this bow with a surprising amount of speed and so should only be used under close adult supervision. Careless use can result in injury to people and/or damage to property. This bow is capable of bringing down small to medium sized game like squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and even coyotes. It's fun for both kids and adults to shoot.
