English Style Osage Longbow SOLD

This gorgeous bow is made of lemon yellow Osage orange and mimics the English Longbow of the Middle Ages. It has a long, somewhat snakey narrow shape when viewed from the front and gradually thickens to the handle, but doesn't have a pronounced thicker grip.  The grip is wrapped with blue cloth that's wrapped over with a coil of bright white leather.  The colors of the grip, combined with the bright yellow wood make a striking combination.  The string is blue and white Dacron B-50 that's been served with black serving thread to protect it from abrasion and ensure years of shooting enjoyment. It has a semi-permanent knot on the bottom limb and a plaited loop on the upper limb.  The bow is 68 inches long, pulls 53 lbs at 29 inches and bends only slightly in the grip when at full draw.

This bow is a longbow/flatbow hybrid.  It has the longbow's length and tillered side profile when strung and shot, but has the flatter, more rectangular cross-section of a flatbow.  It's 53-lb draw weight sends arrows with lethal velocity, and is a perfect bow for both target shooting and hunting.  It shoots as good as it looks.  Click photos for larger images.
