Spearpoint 12

This spearpoint is made of a tan, almost sand colored heat treated flint from southern Kentucky. The notches are a bit off, but this one looks strikingly like the authentic points found in plowed fields and I really like to try to get the look of the points the old guys made.  Look closely at the center of the point...that little black spot is actually a fossilized crinoid stem, which is crustacean related to starfish.  They are still found in warm water oceans today, but the one in this spearpoint lived in a shallow sea around 350-400 million years ago.   Click photo for larger image.
